Worries regarding the adverse impacts of false information on democratic societies have resulted in various strategies to counter it (Jones-Jang& Mortensen, 2019). As stated by Jones-Jang and Mortensen (2019), media literacy can help people develop their ability to handle fake news in a better way. The media literacy approach arises as an audience-centered solution to combating misinformation. In this approach, there are three major actors: the source of information, the practice of obtaining information from a large group of people, and the group of people who receive and interact with the information. There is also a second method mentioned by Jones-Jang and Mortensen (2019), it involves crowdsourcing . This strategy suggests that users can identify or express scepticism about false narratives by observing comments made by other users. What is truly important is finding the way to analyse information, both when reading or writing, and assessing if this information is reliable or not. Self-assessment plays an important role in this process. As stated by Google Developers (n.d.) there are a series of questions that can be posed in order to explore content quality, expertise, presentation and production, and focusing on people instead of engines. During the self-assessment process, here are some topics that could be asked in the different categories according to Google Developers (n.d.) Category Topics for self-assessment process Content and quality ● the information should be original ● the description should be substantial, complete, or comprehensive ● information should go beyond the obvious ● provide substantial additional value and originality ● the title or heading should provide a descriptive, helpful summary of the content ● titles should also avoid exaggeration ● create content that people will want to save or share ● have being published in mind when creating the content
