By learning to analyze and evaluate evidence critically, we can become better equipped to resist the influence of conspiracy theories and make informed decisions based on factual information. The act of fact-checking involves conducting thorough scrutiny of declarations, contentions, and statements propounded as factual to evaluate and validate their accuracy and authenticity. The distribution of social media and internet platforms has prompted the need to distinguish credible information from doubted and misleading narratives (Olan, 2022). One of the most important challenges of fact-checking is identifying biases and misinformation (Park, 2021). Misinformation can come from a variety of sources and situations, not only including propaganda, hoaxes, and fake news. It can also be spread unintentionally through misunderstandings or misinterpretations of information. Biases can influence the way information is presented, making it important for fact-checkers to consider the motives and perspectives of those who are providing the information. It is important to practise fact-checking during your every day social media usage. Consider fact- checking as an important skill that can help you evaluate the accuracy and validity of information (Lazer, 2018. Here are some steps you can take to do fact-checking on searching social media: ● Identify and verify the message. ● Check the source of the message. ● Look for supporting evidence. ● Check biases or doubts in the message using fact-checking resources, for example, Snopes, PolitiFact, and FactCheck.org (Lazer, 2018).
